Men's Soccer Falls To Bridgewater State, 2-0

Bridgewater, MA --- Bridgewater State sophomore Colby LaSage (Maynard, MA) netted both markers as he helped pace the Bears to a 2-0 victory over Worcester State in MASCAC men's soccer action at Swenson Field.

With the win the Bears improve to 5-4 (2-1 MASCAC) while the Lancers fall to 3-6-1 and 1-2 in league action.

Following a scoreless opening stanza, LaSage registerd his first goal on a long throw in by junior Nicholas Keddie (Abington, MA), with some help on the play by senior Steve McAvoy (Wapole, MA) in the 56th minutes.

LaSage potted the second tally in the 63rd minute for some insurance when he knocked in a shot that hit off the crossbar by McAvoy.

Bridgewater State outshot the Lancers 16-4 for the contest and 8-1 with attempts on net while also holding the 5-3 margin in corner kicks.

Worcester State senior Kyle Venne (Ludlow, MA) nearly put the visitors up by one goal in the 26th minute with a header, but he was denied by sophomore netminder Colin Jepson (Sandwich, MA) as the bid turned out to be his only save of the contest.

Junior goalkeeper Tim Schmidt (Southwick, MA) turned aside six shots for the Lancers.

Its a quick turnaround for the Bears who take on Babson at 2 PM on Sunday while Worcester State hosts Wheelock on Tuesday at 7 PM.
