Men's Soccer Blanked by Eastern Connecticut

WILLIMANTIC, Conn.- The Worcester State University men's soccer team was blanked 4-0 by Eastern Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon at Thomas Nevers Field.

With the loss the Lancers drop to 0-2-1 on the season while the Warriors advance to 2-2.

Worcester State's defense highlighted the first half of the game with a number of blocks. Andy Ramirez (Waltham, Mass.) held the Warriors to only one goal in the half while making six saves in the half. Andres Mayuri (West Hartford, Conn.) grabbed his first goal of two in the game just ten minutes into the half.

The second half of the game was controlled by Eastern's offense netting three goals in the half. Manny Ramirez (Waltham, Mass.) had a pair of corner kicks in the second half that the Lancers were unable to convert into any shots on net. The Lancers were held to just two shots the entire game, while the Warriors shot 31 times. Ramirez totaled 11 saves on the day.

The Lancers return to action Wednesday with a game at UMass Boston. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
