Mark Johnson enters his 7th year as a coach for the men’s and women’s track & field program. Coach Johnson is in his 4th year as the women's sprint coach and in his 7th year as the men's assistant coach. He also guides the men's javelin throwers.

Coach Johnson was a four year standout student-athlete on the track for Worcester State. In his four years he received All-MASCAC and All-Alliance accolades numerous times for his conference championships in the Long Jump, 200 and 400 meter dashes. In his junior year, he received DIII New England Outdoor Honors for his 4th place finish in the Long Jump and All-ECAC Outdoor honors for placing 5th in the 200 meters as a junior. 

During his senior year, Coach Johnson was one of only seven Worcester State University athletes in history at the time to capture a DIII New England Championship title in the 200m as he won the Indoor Championship with a time of 22.37. Later in the outdoor season, Coach Johnson gained All-Open New England honors and All-ECAC honors in the Javelin with 8th and 4th place finishes, respectively. Coach Johnson set the school record in the javelin which was broken by his own athlete four years later.

Coach Johnson was also a standout athlete on the men's soccer program at Worcester State. He was a four year starter on defense which saw him start a total of 72 out of a possible 76 games. Coach Johnson was named to the First-Team All-MASCAC squad in his senior year.

Coach Johnson was distinguished with the Worcester State University Lancer Award for his dedication to soccer/track and field, leadership qualities and good sportsmanship.
