Frankian Named Co-WACBA Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Worcester, MA --- Senior Julie Frankian (Millbury, MA) has been selected Co-Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her hot shooting hand in a 2-1 week for Worcester State.

Frankian averaged 15.7 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting .410 from the field (16-for-39), .529 from beyond the arc (9-for-17) and she missed once at the charity tripe (6-for-7).

After jump starting her week with 22 points and three boards in a 76-59 triumph against Mount Holyoke, Frankian ended the week with 25 points, six caroms and two assists in a 74-71 victory over Misericordia at the Williams Tip-Off Classic.

Through her first five games of the season, Frankian tops the MASCAC in total scoring with 82 points and she sports the fifth-best scoring average (16.4 PPG). Frankian also ranks second in the conference in both three-point percentage (.556 – 14-for-26) and free throw percentage (.947 – 18-for-19) while her field goal clip is in the top 15 (.424 – 25-for-59).

Last season Frankian was among the region's best at the charity stripe, ending the year sixth in New England in free throw percentage and 35th in Division III (.859 - 73-for-85).

Until she rimmed her third attempt against Mount Holyoke this past Tuesday, Frankian had a streak of 25 consecutive points at the charity stripe that dated back to a home win over Fitchburg State on February 18.

Her string of 25 straight baskets over six games became the second-longest in program history, just six short of her own school mark she set midway through 2013-14 campaign.

Frankian shared this week's WACBA Player of the Week accolade with senior Traffica Warburton (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) of Anna Maria.

The Lancers (3-2) have one more game on Tuesday evening before the Thanksgiving break as they travel to St. Joseph (CT) for a 7 PM contest.
