Gonet Helps Women's Soccer Complete Comeback Win Over Framingham State

Worcester, MA --- Freshman Gaby Gonet (Agawam, MA) netted a goal and had an assist on the game-wining marker to help lead Worcester State University to a 2-1 victory over Framingham State University this morning in MASCAC women's soccer action.

With the win the Lancers improve to 4-2-2 and remain unbeaten at 1-0-1 in conference play while the Rams slip to 3-5 and even out to 1-1 in the MASCAC

After a scoreless second period that saw the Worcester State hold a 9-1 edge in shots, the Rams used one of their five attempts for the contest to go 1-0 in the 48th minute. Freshman Marissa D'Angelo (Whitman, MA) netted her team-leading fourth tally when she took a feed from junior Kerry Kiley (Mansfield, MA).

Play continued to go back and forth until Gonet found an opening and potted her fourth goal of the season on a breakway. Less than two minutes after the game tying marker was scored, Gonet made a nice play on the left corner to senior Sarah Connors (Gardner, MA) who would fire off a nice bid from 25-yards out for the match clincher.

Worcester State finished with advantage in shots (17-5) while Framingham State held a slight edge in corners (5-4).

Senior Rachael Armenti (W. Boylston, MA) ended with two saves for WSU while freshman Kaitlyn Rossi (Pepperell, MA) notched eight stops in the setback.

Both squads will travel to non conference opponents at 7 PM after the weekend. The Rams head to Elms on Tuesday before the Lancers will travel north to Keene State on Wednesday.
