Clifford, Scott Selected To Play In NEWISA Senior All-Star Game

Worcester, MA --- Senior teammates Danielle Clifford (Attleboro, MA) and Nikki Scott (Berlin, MA) have both been tabbed to play in the upcoming New England Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-Star game. Clifford would tally the contests' game-winning marker in the 55th minute as she helped team Gang Green earn the eventual 6-2 triumph.

The all-star team is made up of top seniors from all three divisions from around New England. In Division III, 20 different individuals from 14 different institutions received the nod to play in the contest as Clifford and Scott were the only two to be named from the MASCAC.

Last week Clifford was honored as the MASCAC Player of the Year as she finished the season with nine goals and three assists for 21 points. Clifford, a three-time All-MASCAC first-team honoree, ended her career fourth on the all-time scoring list with 26 markers and 19 helpers for 71 points.

Clifford, who played primarily at midfield this season, was instrumental for the Lancers in their run to it's first-ever ECAC Division III New England championship as she netted the lone goal in a 1-0 semifinal win over UMass Boston and another tally in a 1-1 draw with Keene State in the championship game. It was in the shootout with the Owls that Clifford booted the match clinching kick to help WSU earn the crown en route to her receiving Most Outstanding Player of the tournament accolades.

Scott earned her second-straight All-MASCAC first-team honor last week as the squads starting center back. She helped play a key role in a defense that led the conference in goals against average (0.75) and tied for the conference lead in goals allowed (17).

As of this past week, Worcester State's goals against average is ranked 60th in the NCAA Division III and 13th in New England.

Last year, Sarah Connors was invited to play in the NEWISA Senior All-Star Game.
