Beckman, Gonet, Macomber Earn All-MASCAC Women's Soccer Honors

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Senior Brianne Beckman (Lakeville, MA) and junior Gaby Gonet (Agawam, MA) along with first-year Alicia Macomber (Stoughton, MA) have all been tabbed with All-MASCAC Women's Soccer accolades in a vote by the leagues eight head coaches as announced by league publicist Jim Seavey.

Beckman and Gonet both been named to the first-team while Macomber copped second-team laurels.

Beckman, who also earned first-team honors in 2011, enjoyed tremendous success this season. She finished the end of the regular season second in the MASCAC in goals (13), third in points (32) and eighth in assists (6). Her goals and points were just three off from tying single-season records.

For her career, Beckman is currently eighth on the all-time scoring list with 21 goals and 17 assists for 59 points. Her 17 helpers are tied for fourth all-time – just three away from the top spot.

Gonet, a second-team selection in 2010 as a freshman, was a force for the Lancers at center midfield. She ended the campaign tied for third in the conference in markers (10) while she was also tied for fifth in assists (7) and fifth overall in the conference in points (27).

With her seven helpers, Gonet tied a mark for the second-most dishes in program history which is held by five other players – including Beckman last season – and she connected for a blistering .517 shot on goal percentage, a mark that was fifth among those in the league with 30 shots or more.

Gonet, who was just outside the 25 point club entering the season with six career goals and five assists to her credit, leaped into 14th place with 44 career points (16 goals – 12 assists).

Macomber joins a talented group of seven first-year players who were on this year's All-MASCAC team. As one of five on the second-team and the only rookie midfielder on the squad, Macomber finished the season third in assists (4), tied for fourth in goals (4) and fifth in points with 12.

In a pair of key conference games, Macomber netted game-winners including a pair in a 3-1 triumph over Bridgewater State and the deciding goal in a 3-2 double-overtime victory over MCLA.

The Lancers (8-7-3, 5-1-1 MASCAC) coached by fifth-year head coach Kevin Cumberbatch hosted a first-round game in the conference tournament for the third consecutive season, but lost in penalty kicks to Bridgewater State in a 0-0 draw in the conference semifinals.
