The Worcester State Lancers claim the number one seed in the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Soccer Tournament which will start on Tuesday with the quarterfinals round.
The tournament starts on Tuesday, Nov. 1 with third Bridgewater State hosting sixth seed Fitchburg State at 7 pm while fourth seed Framingham State entertaining fifth seed Salem State at 7 pm.
The winner of Bridgewater State/Fitchburg State will play second seed Westfield State on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 pm then the winner of Framingham State/Salem State faces off with top seed Worcester State at 7 pm. The winners of the semifinal games will meet up Sunday, Nov. 6 at the highest remaining seed for the MASCAC Tournament Championship.
Taking home a first round bye and the number one seed, Worcester State finished the conference regular season with a 5-0-2 record. Vanessa O'Donnell was solid in goal for the Lancers this season tallying the third most wins in the league with six, third best goals-against average at 1.10 and only allowed 15 goals all season which is the second lowest in the conference. She also had the second most shutouts with six.
