Rhode Island College Rolls to 8-1 Victory over Women's Tennis

Worcester, MA --- Rhode Island College (4-1) swept first through sixth singles and the first and second doubles matches to help lead the Anchorwomen, 8-1, over Worcester State College (1-1) in non-conference women's tennis action on Thursday afternoon at WPI's AJ Knight Tennis courts.

Meg Funk (Oakdale, CT), Brittany LaBarre (Greenville, RI), Julie Bannon (Narraganset, RI), Kim Field (Barrington, RI), Gabby Batek (Greenville, RI) and Melissa Benoit (Cumberland, RI) all posted victories in the singles sets for RIC. Funk paired up with Bannan and LeBarre joined up with Bannon to sweep the first and second doubles for the Anchorwomen, 8-3 and 8-4. The lone win for the Lancers came in the third doubles set on a tie breaker from Nicole Sellner (N. Attleboro, MA) and Danielle Lehman (Westminster, MA), 7-5 and 8-3.

Worcester State will host Bridgewater State again at WPI on Monday at 3:30 while the Anchorwomen continue Little East play when they travel to Portland, ME to face off against Southern Maine at 1 PM.
