Becker College 6, Worcester State 3

Worcester, MA --- Becker College took five singles matches and the final doubles match to defeat Worcester State, 6-3, in women's tennis action on Thursday afternoon in Leicester. The Lancers (1-3) have now suffered their third straight defeat while the Hawks improve to 3-4.

Allison Flynn (Wilmington, MA), Megan Nessan (Levittown, PA), Danielle Stryker (Ledyard, CT), and Shauna McNally (Worcester, MA) all posted wins for Becker in their respective singles matches. Jessica Sargent (Clinton, MA) defeated Sarah Ryzewski (Spencer, MA) in No. 6 singles for Worcester's lone solo triumph, 7-5, 2-6 and 10-6 while Janeil Vajcovec (Webster, MA) lost in the No.2 singles, but took Catie Sivret (Stow, MA) to an extra frame in a 2-6, 6-2, 10-7 setback.

The Lancers took the first two doubles matches when Britney Cullen (Milford, MA) paired up with Albana Xhemollari () and Nicole Sellner (N. Attleboro, MA) along with Ashley Perkins (Worcester, MA) won their respective sets 8-5 and 8-4. Hawk teammates McNally and Stryker took the third doubles, 8-1.

Because of this weekend's rain, Worcester will take a break and play regional rival Nichols next Saturday at 11 AM while the Hawks will face NECC opponent Newbury this Saturday at 1 o'clock.
