Medford, MA --- Sophomore Christy Deininger (Attleboro, MA) and junior Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) along with the 4x200 meter relay squad broke three school records this afternoon to help the Lancers place second at the Tufts Stampede Invitational.

The hosting Jumbos would win the meet with 192 points, followed by the Lancers tally of 99 points, Wesleyan (94) and WPI (63). For their efforts this week, Wise and senior Mara Kralian (N. Grafton, MA) have both been honored as the MASCAC Track Athletes of the Week.

With her second place finish Deinger clocked 9.32 to break her own mark in the 60 meter hurdles and Wise took home the top spot for timing 7.79 in the 60 meter dash as both student-athletes reset their own marks set two weeks ago at Tufts (60 - 7.89, 60 H - 9.37).

Wise had entered the meet tied for 11th in the NCAA Division III Nationals standings with the 55 meter dash time of 7.30 (converted) from this past week at the MIT Co-Ed Invitational and moved up to sixth with her time today.

The 4x200 meter relay squad of Wise, senior Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA) and freshman teammates Liz Bodensieck (Raynham, MA) and Brittany Hodgerney (Leicester, MA) also established a new program standard with a time of 1:44.80. Both Rafferty and Wise helped set the previous mark was set two years ago at the ECAC Championships (1:46.30).

Kralian won the long jump (5.12m) before her and Deininger placed third (7.92) and fourth (7.96), respectively, in the 60 meters.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Hodgerney, sophomore Megan Taylor (Danvers, MA) and first-year classmates Kim West (Harvard, MA) and Alexandria McMahon (E. Longmeadow, MA) came in second with a time of 4:08.28.

Other Division III New England qualifiers included McMahon and West in the 400 as they were hundreths of a second off in fifth (1:02.53) and sixth (1:02.72) and Taylor stamped her ticket for the ECAC Championships with sixth in the 600 (1:42.24).

In addition to freshman Amanda Caldarone's (Danvers, MA) second-place leap in the long jump (5.08m/16-08), first-year teammate Therese Morss (Marion, MA) qualifed for the DIII New Englands in the triple jump (10.40m/34-01.50) for seventh as she also added fifth in the long jump (4.83m/15-10.25) and ninth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.92).

Junior Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) was 3.5 seconds off the DIII New England standard in the mile with sixth (5:31) and sophomore Hannah Werneth (N. Yarmouth, ME) was third in the shot put (12.12m/39-09.25) and freshman Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) tossed sixth in the same event (11.30m/37-01).

Next week the Lancers will try to three-peat at the MASCAC/Alliance Championships, hosted by Southern Maine.
