Jasper Captures Eighth At Tufts Indoor Pentathlon

Medford, MA --- Freshman Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) scored 2632 points and helped the Lancers place seventh last night at the Tufts Indoor Pentathlon. She would beat out 13 other competitors for eighth place.

Jasper would tally the most points in the shot put as the was third-overall (11.17m/36-7.75) followed by her sixth place time in the 60 meter hurdles (10.21).

She would also take eighth in the 800 (2:42.32), tie for ninth in the long jump (4.25m/13-11.25) and finish 12th in the high jump (1.33m/4-4.25)

Jasper will find out in two weeks if her score is good enough for the Division III New England Championships as the field takes the top 12 point earners.

The current school mark is 3,358 points held by Lancer Hall of Famer Elke Aun who set the mark during the 1996-97 season at Wesleyan. Jasper is the first WSU Pentathlete since current teammate Cathy Chude (Marlboro, MA) scored 2,628 points for Division III New England honors during the 2009-10 campaign.
