Gary Jusseaume enters his sixth season as a middle-distance/distance coach for the indoor and outdoor track & field programs. He also serves as the head coach of the women's cross country coach.

He previously served as the Head Coach and Director for Operations for the men's and women’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs at Assumption College from 2007-10, after having served as an assistant coach from 2002-07.

Jusseaume's first collegiate stint was as the head coach of cross country and track & field at Assumption from 1975-82. It was then that he created an indoor track & field program, as well as the women's cross country and track & field programs, both of which gained varsity status.

During both tenures at Assumption, Jusseaume’s athletes shattered and reset virtually every cross country and track & field record numerous times. Several female and male athletes competed at the NCAA Division II National Championships in cross country and track & field. Four student-athletes to date have been inducted into Assumption’s prestigious Hall of Fame.

While coaching at Assumption, Jusseaume also served as the head coach of the Worcester boys and girls track & field team that competed at the National Youth Games held in Detroit. The next year he coached middle-distance runners at the 1978 Friendship Games in Kingston, Jamaica. In 1980 he would turn down a TFA-USA offer to coach in Saudi Arabia, opting instead to remain at Assumption.

Jusseaume’s experience began at Marlboro High where his men’s cross country teams went unbeaten and won successive Midland League titles. His indoor and outdoor track & field teams earned league titles as well. Jusseaume was also responsible for creating the first girls cross country and track & field teams at Marlboro.

Between his two stints at Assumption, Jusseaume coached track and field at Maynard High where his teams posted perfect seasons and won four Mid-Wach C League Championships.

Jusseaume is a retired English and writing instructor and former WBZ-TV Investigative news journalist field-producer. He received his B.A. degree from Worcester State in 1973, an M.A. degree in English from Assumption College, and an M.A. in Journalism from Indiana University – Bloomington. Coupled with extensive coaching experience, Jusseaume is a Level I and Level II (Endurance) USA Track & Field (USATF) nationally certified coach. He also takes advanced coaching courses through the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTCCCA).

Jusseaume is two-sport member of the Lancer Hall of Fame having competed on the Worcester State cross country and track & field teams from 1969-73 under legendary coach Richard “Okie” O’Connor. He is also a member of the USATF Association and both the Oregon Track Club and Greater Boston Track Club.
