Volleyball Defeats Becker for Fourth Straight Victory

Worcester, MA --- Senior captain Colleen O'Brien (Shrewsbury, MA) tallied 11 kills while freshman Jodi Hallett (Gill, MA) handed out 19 assists to help lead Worcester State to a 3-0 triumph this evening over Becker in non conference women's volleyball action this evening.

The Lancers (8-8) won in convincing fashion in the first set 25-6 before Becker fought their way back in the last two, but WSC prevailed with runs at the end of each match to win 25-19 and 25-23.

Worcester State did well behind the end line as they racked up 17 team aces as they were highlighted by O'Brien's four aces while first-year Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA) added three. Lebel would finish the match with four kills as well.

The Hawks were paced by junior Kelsea Laubenstien's (Randolph, MA) 10 assists and six digs while Julie Treka (Shelton, CT) notched five kills. First-year Nicole Morse (Alton, NH) also had four blocks for Becker.

WSC heads to Brunswick, Maine for the Mid-Coast Classic held at Bowdoin College. The Lancers will open with the hosts on Friday night at 8 PM before taking on Rivier at 11 AM and Mount Holyoke at 1:30 on Saturday.

Becker (3-9) opens NECC play with a tri-match at Bay Path and Southern Vermont. The Hawks take on the Wildcats at 10 AM before the Mountaineers at 2 o'clock.
