WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University’s freshman goaltender, Josh Reinstein (Woodland Hills, Calif.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men’s ice hockey rookie of the week, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
Reinstein went 2-0 with a 1.00 goals against average and a .966 save percentage last week. He claimed his second collegiate shutout with a 30-save performance in the 6-0 win over Framingham State and made 27 saves in the 5-2 win over Fitchburg State on Saturday. He also tallied an assist on a goal in the win over Framingham State.
“Josh has been very focused and competing hard for the program, as he has made some very athletic saves lately,” commented head coach Shayne Toporowski. “Josh’s performance allows our players to play with a great deal of confidence.”
“The rookie of the week award is well deserved, and I would like to congratulate Josh,” concluded Toporowksi.
The men’s ice hockey team returns to action on Thursday (Jan. 19) when they travel to Westfield State for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
