GENEVA, Ohio – Both Worcester State University's Sam Weeks (Methuen, Mass.) and Stephanie McFadries (Burlington, Mass.) placed in the top-8 in their respective events Thursday (May 25) afternoon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships to claim All-American status.
In his second-consecutive NCAA appearance (indoor and outdoor), Weeks came in sixth in the discus throw with a top throw of 48.47m to earn his first-ever All-American honors.
This year's season personal record (PR) in the discus for Weeks was 50.51m, which he threw at the Division III New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 4.
Weeks will return to competition tomorrow and Saturday, as he is scheduled to put the shot and throw the hammer.
McFadries made her second consecutive NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field appearance, and took eighth place in the javelin throw to earn her first-ever All-American honors. The sophomore javelin thrower was slotted in the ninth slot in the finals and came through with monster throw of 41.89m in her final attempt to jump ahead of Smith's Katy McClellan for the All-American honors (8th place).
With today's result, McFadries bests her previous PR of 41.81m which was thrown at the Division III New England Outdoor Track & Field meet to earn the DIII New England title.
