Kenan Kolanda Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Worcester State University baseball senior Kenan Kolanda (Sterling, Mass.) has been named to the First Team Academic All-District, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District Baseball Team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Honorees selected First Team Academic All-District will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 9.

Kolanda was a two-year captain for the Lancers, batting .274 in his career with 58 runs scored, 42 RBI, and 20 extra base hits. He was selected to the MASCAC Sportsmanship Team in 2019, and is a three-time MASCAC All-Academic Team honoree.

Off the field, Kolanda is a member of Worcester State's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Athlete Mentor Program, and volunteers his time with the League League Challenger Division, a division of Little League baseball for children with physical and intellectual disabilities.

Kolanda, a business administration major with a concentration in accounting, is graduating from Worcester State with a cumulative grade point average of 3.76.

For his hard work both on and off the field, Kolanda was named Worcester State's Margaret "Peg" Nugent Male Scholar-Athlete Award recipient during last week's Virtual Awards Week.

Kolanda is the first Lancer to receive the honor from CoSIDA in the 2019-20 academic year. It is the third consecutive year that a Worcester State athlete has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, as Class of 2019 field hockey star Michaila Parent earned the recognition in both 2018 and 2019.
