
Worcester, MA- For the third straight week, the Worcester State Baseball team has taken home dual honors for the MASCAC Player of the Week as sophomore Gavin Price (Worcester, MA) and first year Riggs Catlin (Dedham, MA) claim their second honors of the season as Pitcher and Rookie of the Week.
Price got the complete game victory, allowing five hits, two earned runs with 10 strikeouts and no walks in the Lancers’ 10-2 win over MCLA. On the season thus far Price has recorded 28 strikeouts and 2.14 ERA with two complete game wins.
Catlin batted .667 (4-6) with two triples, three RBI, three walks, three runs scored, a stolen base, .778 on-base and 1.333 slugging percentage in the Lancers doubleheader sweep of MCLA. On the season thus far Catlin has recorded 10 runs on 13 hits with three doubles, two triples and two home runs for 15 RBIs.
Receiving an honorable mention this week was fellow first year Christopher Mondesir (Roslindale, MA) who batted .556 (5-9) with a triple, three RBI, four walks and six runs scored in a three-game sweep of MCLA. Went 4-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in the 10-2 win over the Trailblazers.
Worcester State returns to action on Wednesday when they journey to Wheaton for a long-awaited rescheduled meeting between the two teams. First pitch is set for 3:30pm.
