Worcester State’s Gibson and Jones Named to All-Conference Teams
WESTFILD, Mass. – Worcester State's senior, Terrence Gibson (Rockland, Mass.), and senior Kemani Jones (Milton, Mass.), were both named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Conference teams as announced by the MASCAC Wednesday afternoon. Gibson was named to the first-team as a return specialist, while Jones was awarded second-team All-Conference for his offensive skills at running back this season.
 

Gibson played in nine games for the Lancers and finished his year out with a total of 749 yards on 27 kick returns. Gibson sat at the top of the conference in kick returns, averaging 27.7 yards per return. Gibson's highlight of the season was his 97-yard kick return for a touchdown against Salve Regina on Sep. 5.

 

Jones played in all 10 games for the Lancers this season. During the 2015 season, Jones rushed for a total of 1,101 yards, breaking the all-time school record for a career rushing total of 3,095 yards. Also this season, Jones met the all-time rushing touchdowns at Worcester State in a single game with four in the 53-27 win over Westfield State.

 

Jones averaged 110.1 rushing yards per game, and averaged five receptions for 39.5 yards per game (50 for 395 total). He has tallied up 13 rushing touchdowns, and two receiving touchdowns on the season, giving the Lancers a total of 92 points on the season.

 

Matt Silva and Matt Mangano of Framingham State are the 2015 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year award winners and headline the 2015 MASCAC All-Conference teams as voted on by the coaches from around the league.

 

Silva, the senior quarterback from Dracut, Mass. had a great year for the Rams, leading them to a perfect 8-0 record in league play. He finished the conference regular season first in total touchdowns with a school-record 39, completion percentage at 66.3 percent, second in passing yards per game at 285.6 and total yards on the season with 2856. Silva sits in second in all of Division III in passing touchdowns with 39 while having the third most points responsible per game with 26.2.

 

Earning MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year honors, Mangano, a senior from Winchester, Mass., closed out the regular season with 30 solo and 15 assisted tackles for 45 overall while averaging 4.5 tackles a contest. He also netted two interceptions on the year while helping the Rams hold their opponents to only 20.2 points per game. This marks the third time Mangano has been named the MASCAC First Team All-Conference squad.

 

Repeating as the MASCAC Offensive Lineman of the Year is Framingham State's Nick Stanfield. The senior from Everett, Mass. helped lead a Rams offense that averaged 433 yards of total offense and 39.5 points per game to go along with 53 touchdowns. Stanfield joins teammate Mangano as a three-time First Team MASCAC All-Conference honoree. Earlier this year, he was named as a D3football.com Preseason All-American.

 

Taking home the MASCAC Offensive Rookie of the Year accolade is Plymouth State's Brandonn Drumgole. The freshman from Mt. Sinai, N.Y. tallied 423 yards on 27 receptions while adding two touchdowns in his first year with the Panthers.

 

Fitchburg State first year linebacker Cyrick Watford is the MASCAC Defensive Rookie of the Year. The freshman from Meriden, Conn. finished the 2015 season with 16 solo and nine assisted tackles for 25 while netting 2.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.

 

After leading the Rams to their sixth straight MASCAC regular season championship and the league's first automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament, Framingham State's Tom Kelley has been named the Champion's Choice Coach of the Year by his peers. This is the second straight year he has received the honor.
