Six Tabbed To Little East Fall All-Academic Team

North Dartmouth, MA --- Six Worcester State student-athletes have been named to the Fall Little East Academic Team as announced this past week by Media Relations Director Jack Hollaran. The six student-athletes included five field hockey players and one representative from the women's tennis team.

To earn a spot on the all-academic teams a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3, and be a full-time member of a varsity team.

From the field hockey team juniors Sarah Cozzens (Lancaster, MA), Samantha Janda (Sterling, MA) and Kat Masterjohn (Warren, MA) received the accolades while seniors Megan Feehan (Lunenburg, MA) and Amanda Maillet (Saugus, MA) were also honored.

Feehan, Janda and Maillet were each named to the squad last season as the field hockey team had the highest grade point average in the athletics department during the 2009-10 academic year. In 2009, the field hockey team also was recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association with a National Academic award.

Sophomore Jackie Shaw (Uxbridge, MA) was the lone student-athlete from the women's tennis team, who participated in their first-ever season in the Little East Conference this past fall.
