Providence, RI --- Senior Chris Brunelle (Worcester, MA/Holy Name) posted a runner-up finish with a 76 (+4) to help lead the Worcester State men's golf team to a sixth place finish at the Rhode Island Invitational at the par 72 Triggs Municipal Golf Course this afternoon. Brunelle had the best score of the day on the back nine with a 36.
As a team the Lancers fired a total of 342, just 18 strokes off leader Husson University (324) who won the NEIGA Division III team championship.
Senior Bob Bruso (Auburn, MA) registered an 82 (+10; T11th) to start off his April while classmate TJ Magnell (Leominster, MA) added an 89 to tie for 32nd (+17). The group was rounded out by fourth-year Mike Horan's (Billerica, MA) total of 95 in a tie for 48th (+23) and newcomer Troy Johnson's (Worcester, MA) card was a 101 (+29, T54th).
The Lancers will compete next week at the two-day UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
