Men's Golf Tied for Fourth After Day One of the GNAC Championships

SUTTON, Mass. - Freshmen Jake Poitras (Harwich, Mass.) and Brodie Coughlin (North Brookfield, Mass.) each carded opening round 79s as the Worcester State University men's golf team finds itself tied for fourth place after day one of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships at Blackstone National Golf Club.

With a team score of 321, the Lancers find themselves just 13 strokes off the pace set by defending champions Johnson & Wales, and tied with Southern Maine.

Junior Mike Manning (Bridgewater, Mass.) finished with a score of 81 on the day, with junior Connor Anderson (Raynham, Mass.) recording an 82 to round out the Lancer scorers. Sophomore Mark Clemente (Holden, Mass.) shot a 87 for the Lancers on Saturday as the final Lancer to return to the clubhouse.

The Lancers will look to move up the leaderboard on Sunday as they compete in round two from Blackstone National. First tee times are scheduled for 8:45 a.m.
