Lancers Golf Claims Fifth in Preseason Poll

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Golf team has been tapped fifth in the MASCAC Preseason Coaches Poll as voted on by the conference coaches. Junior Jon Gastonguay will look to lead the Lancers back to the top of the MASCAC this season after coming off an All-Conference showing last season.

Claiming the top spot was Springfield with five first place votes for 34 points with MCLA sitting right behind with two first place votes for a total of 29 points. Salem State rounded out the top three with 25 points just edging out newcomers Marymount who came in with 23 points.

Worcester State claimed their fifth-place finish with 15 points. The Lancers were fourth in the championship last season. Gastonguay earned All-Conference honors after scoring 159 over the two-day tournament with a 75 on day two with three birdies to land in sixth. Westfield came in sixth with 12 points, closing it out ahead of Marywood with nine points.

The MASCAC men’s golf teams will get the 2024 season underway over the next few weeks which

culminates in the MASCAC Championship on September 28-29 hosted by Westfield State at The

Rance Golf Course in Southwick, Mass.
