Worcester State: 4

Keene State: 0

How it Happened:

In tonight's matchup against the Keene State Owls and the Worcester State Lancers the action was early and often. Three minutes into the first half the Lancers struck gold as sophomore Dylan Verby (South Setauket, RI) was able to notch the first goal of the game from about 20 yards out, this gave the crowd and the Lancers some early energy. After this early scoring moment a very intense half was played, as expected, between the two squads. The Owls and the Lancers went back and forth up and down the field with Keene State trying to tie it up and Worcester trying to lengthen the lead to 2-0. However, stout defense from both sides kept the score at the end of the half with the Blue and Gold up 1-0. Sophomore Tobias Schneider (Hudson, WI) would end the half with three saves.

The second half would follow with the same high intensity play we saw in the first with both teams scratching to gain the edge but it seemed as though the defense was too good for either team to score the much needed goal for their team. The Owls were looking for life while the Lancers were looking for some breathing room. Worcester State's junior Brady Iovanni (Lunenburg, MA) was able to notch a second goal for the Blue and Gold off a perfect cross from Verby, putting the Lancers up 2-0. As play continued Keene looked to crawl their way back into the match. However, sophomore Arthur Tome (Milford, MA) thought otherwise as he sprinted down the field and got the assist from Iovanni to continue the symmetrical scoring, to add the third goal for the Lancers and seemingly demoralize the Owls. Tome was able to do this again as he notched his second goal of the night with just one minute left, this time of the lay in from junior Taylor Gavaletz (Dudley, MA), putting the icing on the cake and the Lancers up 4-0 victory.

The Lancers would utilize three goalie on the night with Scneider grabbing the opening half and win, with four saves.
