Northampton, MA --- Sophomore's Nate Starling (Braintree, MA) and Mercedes Arnold (Mira Loma, CA) along with freshman Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) each placed in the top eight to earn All-ECAC honors in their respective events on day two of the ECAC Indoor Championships, hosted by Smith College.

Starling, seeded third after running a blistering 7.88 in the semifinals of the 55 meter hurdles, settled for seventh place with a time of 8.03. With two team points for Starling's finish in the hurdles, the men ended the meet in 48th place.

Arnold had a leap of sixth place (5.35 meters) in the long jump while Wise notched seventh in the 200 (26.39). Yesterday Arnold improved on her NCAA provisional distance in the triple jump when she had a jump of 11.43 meters. She is currently ranked 18th and will await word on whether she has qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships at DePauw University next week.

The women's indoor track team finished the two-day event with 13 points to tie with Wellesley for 23rd place. The squad's finish was the best for a New England state school and seventh in the ECAC. Ithaca College took home top honors for both the men and the women's meet.

Both teams will take a break until the Worcester City Meet on March 27th at WPI.
