Buzzards Bay, MA --- Senior RJ Stahelski (S. Deerfield, MA) has been honored as this week's MASCAC Male Track Athlete of the Week for his performance this past weekend at the Division III New England Championships. This marks the third time that Stahelski has been honored by the conference this year.
Stahelski was the highest finisher of any track athlete in the MASCAC as he took home All-New England honors with third place in the 400 meter dash (49.50) before he helped the 4x400 meter relay record earn All-New England certificates with a finish of eighth overall with a time of 3:24.34.
Stahelski comes off a strong performance at the MASCAC/New England Alliance championships that saw him capture a conference individual title in the 400 and All-Alliance honors in the same event and in the 200 meters. He was 0.57 seconds off from qualifying for the Division III Outdoor Championships in his first race this season in the 400 at the Worcester City Meet (49.47).
Stahelski and select members of the men's outdoor track and field team will compete this weekend at the Open New England Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut on Friday and Saturday.
