Jacques, Stokes and Adu-Addo Lead Lancers Compete at New England DIII Indoor Championships

Worcester, MA- As the indoor season comes to its final weeks, the Worcester State Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field team journey to the New Balance Center in Boston to compete at the New England DIII Championships in a two day feature. 

 

Friday would see sophomore Jadah Stokes (Chicopee, MA) and Ciara Adu-Addo (Worcester, MA) compete in the shot put and long jump respectively, while senior Brodie Jacques (Rehoboth, MA) would also hit the long jump pit and tackle the 60m in the track. Joining the trio on the day would be the Women's 4x200m relay team. 

 

Stokes would get the day started for the Lancers with a trip to the finals in the shot put and seventh place finish on a distance of 12.37 meters in the event. Jacques would add to the final placement success with a 6th place finish in the 60m prelims with a new PR of 6.93 that sent him to the finals on Saturday. Jacques would also take to the long jump pit on the night claiming a 6.33m mark for 21st in the event. Adu-Addo would close out day one for Worcester State in her own chance at the pit where she jumped her way into the final nine, claiming 7th in a leap of 5.30m.

 

The Worcester State Women's 2x200 squad would also set a blistering time of 1:48.72 for 15th on the opening day of action. 

 

Saturday would return Stokes to the throwing circle for the weight throw and two additional relay teams to action with the 4x800m Men's team and the 4x400m women's squad. With the advancement in the preliminary race on Saturday, Jacques would also return to action in the 60m finals.

 

Stokes would lead off the day with a 20th place showing in the weight throw on a distance of 13.13m. Jacques would be the next up on the day, claiming 6th in the 60m finals on a time of 6.94.

 

The Men's relay team was in action on Saturday as they raced their way to 21st with a 8:43.42 in the 4x800m. The women's 4x400 would close out the night with a 23rd place finish in the 4x400m to close out the New England DIII Indoor Championships.

 

Worcester State will be back in action next Saturday when they journey to Tufts for the Last Chance meet for qualifying times for the NCAA DIII Championships
