Four Lancers Earn Softball All-MASCAC Recognition

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Four Worcester State University softball student-athletes have been named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference teams, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.

First-year Brynna Meeker (Northwood, N.H.) was Worcester State’s lone First Team All-Conference selection in the outfield position. Emily Bartlett (Lowell, Mass.), Samantha Stake (Worcester, Mass.), and Rachel Sinclair (Westminster, Mass.) all earned Second Team All-MASCAC selections at pitcher, second base, and utility respectively.

Meeker finished the year as Worcester State’s batting champion in her rookie campaign, finishing the season batting .397 with six doubles and one triple. She reached safely in 22 of her 26 games on the season, with an on-base percentage of .423 and slugging percentage of .507. After starting her season batting in the ninth position in the lineup, Meeker worked her way up to the leadoff position by season’s end.

Bartlett served as Worcester State’s ace in the circle, leading the staff with four wins, 65 strikeouts, and an earned run average of 3.82 on the season. A one-time MASCAC Pitcher of the Week, Bartlett also had a strong season at the dish, batting .270 with 13 runs scored and 12 runs batted in. She slugged her first collegiate home run in a win over Fitchburg State on May 1.

Stake earned her second consecutive All-Conference selection with Tuesday’s announcement. The graduate student had the strongest season of her collegiate career at the dish, batting .305 with 20 runs scored and nine runs batted in, while also swiping five bases. Stake, a co-captain for the Lancers, legged out four doubles and one triple on the season.

Sinclair, who split time between third base and catcher in her first season with the Lancers, earned Worcester State’s final All-Conference nod. The sophomore batted .284 on the season with 12 runs batted in, tied for second on the Lancers. Sinclair was also Worcester State’s top defensive player on the season with a fielding percentage of .964. She committed just four errors on the season in 110 total chances.

Taking home the major awards from the MASCAC were Player of the Year Farrah Adam from Westfield State, Rookie of the Year Alyssa Clark from Westfield State, Pitcher of the Year Kelley Reichert from Bridgewater State, and Coach of the Year Lindsey Couturier from Bridgewater State.
