Chicopee, MA --– Worcester State senior attack
Shannon Feeley (West Springfield, MA) recorded
game-highs of three goals and three assists, and the Lancers had a
total of 14 players score en route to a 21-0 shutout victory over
Elms College in Saturday’s New England Women’s Lacrosse
Alliance (NEWLA) game at Leary Field.
With the win, Worcester State, which improved to 7-5 overall, 3-4
NEWLA, secured the fourth and final bid into next week’s
NEWLA Tournament and will play top-seeded Bridgewater State.
Elms College finished its 2009 season 1-14 overall, 0-7 NEWLA.
Junior midfielder Amanda Cosenza (Shrewsbury,
MA), junior attack Brittany Jamieson (Foxboro,
MA), sophomore midfielder Carley MacIntyre
(Townsend, MA), junior midfielder Abby Cosenza
(Shrewsbury, MA) and junior attack Britney Cullen
(Milford, MA) all netted two goals apiece for the Lancers, who
outshot the host Blazers 32-5.
Worcester State freshman goalkeeper Haley
Erickson (Saugus, MA) turned aside four shots – all
in the first half – to post her first collegiate shutout and
seventh overall win of the year.
Elms College freshman goalkeeper Sarah Picard (West Springfield,
MA) stopped eight shots in her first collegiate start between the
pipes.
