Feeley, Jamieson, Cosenza and Vail Selected to All-NEWLA Team

Worcester, MA --- Worcester State seniors Shannon Feeley (W. Springfield, MA) and Kim Cosenza (Fitchburg, MA) along with juniors Brittany Jamieson (Foxboro, MA) and Kim Vail (W. Newbury, MA) have been named to the NEWLA All Conference Team in voting by league coaches last week. Feeley was honored on the first team while Cosenza, Jamieson and Vail were each tabbed to the second team.

Feeley paced the Lancers offensively this season with 49 goals and 23 assists for a total of 72 points. Feeley, finished the regular season as WSC's all-time leading assist leader as she handed out 88 assists while second on the all-time scoring list with 241 points and 164 markers. Feeley has also received the nod to the All-NEWLA first team twice in her career and she was on the second team last year.

This season Feeley was third in the conference in points per game (5.93), fourth in goals per game (3.92), and fifth in assists per game (1.92). Feeley also totaled three game-winning goals and she was seventh on the team in ground balls with 21.

Jamieson had a breakout junior year campaign as she totaled 36 goals with a team-best 27 assists while she was second to Feeley on the team in points with 63. Jamieson's assist total this season was the third-highest ever posted in the record book and it was the best single-season assist average as well. Jamieson finished the year fourth in the NEWLA in assists per game and she was fifth in total assists.

Jamieson also moved into third place on the all-time scoring list with 119 points.

Vail was outstanding defensively for the Blue and Gold as she tied for the team in ground balls (38), led caused turnovers (19) while she was second in draw controls (26). Vail wrapped up her season third in the conference in forced miscues her game (1.58) while she also tallied 10 goals and five assists.

Cosenza, a second-team honoree in 2007, was also a standout defender for Worcester State. Cosenza notched 19 ground balls, forced 13 turnovers and seven draw controls in her senior year campaign.  

The Lancers were guided by third-year head coach Deb Draper as they finished the season 7-6 overall and 4-3 in NEWLA play. WSC, in their fifth straight conference tournament, were bounced in the semifinals in a 23-10 loss to Bridgewater State.

The Blue and Gold will travel to second-seeded Emerson for the first round of the ECAC New England Tournament on Wednesday at 3:30 PM.
