
Worcester, MA- Vying to make it four in a row to start the season, the Worcester State Lancers (3-0, 0-0) journey to WestConn this afternoon for a moved up battle with the Huskies. Initially scheduled for an evening meeting, with the chilly weather, both teams opted for an early start to the action on the day as Worcester looks to avenge last season's 16-13 loss at home.

How it Happened:
Action in the opening quarter would find the Huskies finding early success, scoring with a woman down just under two minutes into the action. WestConn would add a second goal with just under nine minutes left, followed by their third under a minute later. The Huskies would add an additional two goals before the first quarter would wrap up to claim a 5-0 advantage.
Worcester State's defense would settle down in the second quarter, slowing down the Huskies attack in the circle. WestConn would add another three runs by halftime for an 8-0 lead.
The third quarter would find the Lancers finding their offensive rhythm with a goal by junior McKayla Fisher (Peabody, MA) and junior Molly Witkowski (Greenville, NY) who was assisted by sophomore Madigan Kelley (Bourne, MA). As the final minutes hit the clock in the third WestConn would push their lead back out with a 10-2 lead before Fisher would grab her second of the day for a 10-3 score.
WestConn would open the scoring in the fourth but Fisher would quickly answer back with her third of the game while Witkowski would follow it up with her second. The Huskies would answer with another of their own, but Worcester was not set to slow down as Kelley would grab her first of the game off a free position attempt. Fellow cape area teammate Junior Shannon Donahue (Dennis, MA) would record her first of the day off an assist from Kelley to score the Lancer's seventh goal. In the final five minutes of regulation the Huskies would record an additional two goals but Worcester would grab the final goal of the game as junior Abigail Vincent (Lakeville, MA) would record goal number 8 for Worcester State.

The Blue and Gold (3-1, 0-0) are back at home on Saturday at noon when they host the Wheaton Lyons in their second to last home game before they head down to Puerto Rico for Spring Break.
