Women's Soccer Remains Unbeaten in MASCAC Play with Win over Mass Maritime

Worcester, MA --- Rachael Armenti (West Boylston, MA) and Angieszaka Sychtsz (Warren, MA) combined to post Worcester State's eighth shutout of the season as the Lancers defeated Mass Maritime 7-0 this morning in MASCAC women's soccer action.

WSC (7-5-3, 3-0-3 MASCAC) notched seven markers in the opening frame and cruised to the easy victory. Junior Karen Feeley (West Springfield, MA) put Worcester State up 1-0 as she tallied her first career goal on an assist from her sister, senior Shannon Feeley.

Sophomore Danielle Clifford (Attleboro, MA) and junior Sarah Connors (Gardner, MA) each added to their season totals with a pair of goals each while Shannon Feeley and Stefani Bonnetti (Plymouth, MA) registered tallies of their own as well.

Worcester State outshot the visitors 25-0 in the opening half and Mass Maritime actually outshot the Lancers 5-1 in the second stanza as Laura Spalt (Harwichport, MA) recorded a pair of shots on goal for MMA.

Armenti was not called upon to make a save in the first period while Sychtysz made three saves.

Freshman Rachael Johnson (South Chatham, MA) pushed her season total to 191 saves as she stopped eight stops between the pipes. The Buccaneers also had two teams saves as well.

Both teams will play non-conference opponents on Wednesday. Mass Maritime heads to SUNY-Maritime for an early 10 AM matchup while the Lancers head to UMass Dartmouth for a 3:30 contest.
