Worcester, MA --- Sophomore Christina Bisbee (N. Attleboro, MA) and senior Mark Johnson (Woburn, MA) have each been named MASCAC Track Athletes of the Week after their performances this past weekend at the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan University. The accolade marked the second straight time this season that Johnson has been selected.
Bisbee threw a third place finish of 41-01.25 in the 25-lb weight throw to qualify for the New England Division III Regional's. Bisbee's mark was her season best in the weight throw while she also placed 18th in the shot put at Wesleyan.
Johnson sprinted to take third place in the 400 meter dash (51.24) and tie for second in the 200 (23.04) while he also qualified for the New England Regional's in the 400. Johnson has set the standard for the postseason as he is eligible to compete in the 55, the 200 and the long jump at the New England Indoor Championships hosted by MIT on February 21-22.
The Worcester State Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field team will travel to Wheaton College this Saturday.
