Kralian Leads Women's Indoor Track At Tufts Invitational

Medford, MA --- Junior Mara Kralian (N. Grafton, MA) recorded top finishes in two events as she helped pace the women's indoor and field track and field team to place fifth at the Tufts Invitational.

Kralian notched first in the 60 meters (8.10) and long jump (5.20 meters) before she anchored the first-place ECAC qualifying 4x200 meter relay team (1:50.03) that included juniors Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA) and Nicki Lemelin (Beverly, MA) and sophomore Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat).

Rafferty and Wise also captured sixth (8.30) and seventh (8.31), respectively in the 60 while Lemelin added sixth in the 200 (27.70). Rafferty also notched 10th in the 200 with a time of 28.20.

The sprinters were also led by freshman Nicole Hanson (N. Dighton, MA) who timed 1:08.37 in the 400 as classmate Megan Taylor (Danvers, MA) added seventh in the 600 (1:48.13).

Freshman Alison Hickey (Easton, MA) paced the distance group with third in the 800 with a season-best time of 2:30.86 while junior Maura Withington (W. Palm Beach, FL) who came in seventh (3:38.34). Sophomore Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) also tallied seventh in the 3,000 (11:12.38) and 10th in the 1,000 (3:37.65).

Sophomore Brittany Grueter (Foxboro, MA) clocked 3:24.35 for eighth in the 1,000 as freshman Kelsey Cartwright (Bridgewater, MA) posted 11th in the mile run (5:54.52).

In the field, senior Christina Bisbee (N. Attleboro, MA) registered fourth in the weight throw (12.45m). Freshman Hannah Werneth (N. Yarmouth, ME) chipped in with fifth in the shot put (11.68m) followed by sophomore Kristen Brunelle (Dracut, MA) who took ninth in the same event with a distance of 10.44 meters.

First-year Gaby Gonet (Agawam, MA) and sophomore Natalie Marchi (Northbridge, MA) each tied for seventh in the pole vault as they cleared 2.30 meters.

Freshman Amanda Holden (Lunenburg, MA) and second-year Steph Muse (Chelmsford, MA) each placed sixth (9.85) and seventh (9.87), respectively, in the 60 meter hurdles.

Hickey, Marchi, Withington and rookie Kristen Wilson (Tewksbury, MA) timed fourth in the 4x400 relay.

The Lancers finished the meet with 71 points while the hosting Jumbo's posted first with 195.5 points.

Next week Worcester State will head to the University of New Hampshire.
