Lancers Set Marks at New England DIII Championships

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's and Women's Track and Field team was back in action this weekend as they competed at the Coast Guard Academy for the New England DIII Championships. Those who qualified participated in an action packed two days of events.

 

Sophomore Ciara Adu-Addo (Worcester, MA) would get things rolling for the Lancers by breaking her own school record in the long jump with a 5.78m leap that found her finishing in 4th in the region. Fellow sophomore Alexis Strong (Southington, CT) would finish in seventh with a 5.37m measurement.  Senior Brodie Jacques (Rehoboth, MA) would have double action on Friday with a 13th place finish in the 100m in 10.911 alongside a ninth place finish in the long jump at 6.71m. 

 

Day two action found sophomore Jadah Stokes (Chicopee, MA) taking home 8th in the shot put with a 12.36m mark while Adu-Addo was back, this time on the track side for the 4x100m. Adu-Addo would partner up with first years Emily Bodwell (Lakeville, MA) and Arianna Farrell (Wilmington, MA), Strong and senior Carly Gilson (Grafton, MA) for 14th in 50.41 in the 4x100m. Senior Max O'Connor (Dedham, MA) would then claim 17th in the Discus with a 41.21m.

 

Wrapping up the meet was sophomores Jacksen Bolduc (Auburn, MA) and Kelan Mahoney (Oakham, MA),seniors Alexander Lucifer (Gardner, MA) and Brian O'Leary (Marlborough, MA) and first year Taku Pettengill (Worcester, MA) would finish in 20th in the 4x800m in a time of 8:28.58. On the women's side Bidwell, Gilson, Junior Bridget O'Malley (Leominster, MA) and sophomore Mia Guinto (West Boylston, MA) would claim 17th in the 4x400 on a 4:23.06.

 

Those who qualify will be back in action next Friday at the NEICAAA Championships in a final bid for qualification to the NCAA Tournament Field.
