Women's Cross Country Finishes Third At Emmanuel Saints Invitational

Boston, MA --- Highlighted by sophomore Ali Barrett's (Hingham, MA) place of seventh overall (21:06), the Worcester State women's cross country team had a trio of student-athletes in the top 10 as they would take home third out of 17 teams in attendance at the Emmanual Saints Invitational at Franklin Park on Friday afternoon.

Lesley took home the top spot with 51 to beat out Babson's score of 61 and the Lancers total of 65. There were 162 total entrants in the women's 5k run.

Second-year Kelsey Cartwright (Bridgewater, MA) and freshman Jennifer Cardinal (Chicopee, MA) were just 18 seconds apart to tally ninth (21:10) and 10th (21:28), respectively, while sophomore Meg Plant (Franklin, MA) added 19th (21:51) and junior Brittany Grueter (Foxboro, MA) recorded 20th (21:56).

Sophomore Jenna Pickard (Peabody, MA) notched 30th and third-year Nicole Boudreau (Windsor, CT) rounded out the top seven in 57th with a time of 24:03.

The female harriors will take a two week break until they compete at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships which will be hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
