Women's Cross Country Captures Second At Worcester City Meet

 

Worcester, MA --- Junior Chelsey Peso (Uxbridge, MA) finished third overall with a time of 20:19 to help lead Worcester State to a second place finish this morning at the Annual Worcester City Meet at Moore State Park.

The Lancers finished with 55 points as WPI took home the crown with 23 points and Assumption rounded out the top three with 67 points.

Senior classmates Ali Barrett (Hingham, MA) and Jenna Pickard (Peabody, MA) also turned in top ten finishes with Barrett garnering the sixth position at 20:45 and Pickard crossing the line in ninth with a time of 21:42.

Freshman Katherine Becker (Haverhill, MA) registered a 15th place finish with a time of 22:14 while first-year Melanie Hunter (Maynard, MA) added 24th (22:57).

Junior Maggie Ingraham (Danvers, MA) turned in 27th (23:28) as sophomore Amy Defrancesco (Tewksbury, MA) capped off the scoring for the Lancers in 63rd place (31:30).

WSU will next run at the Tri-State open hosted by the Community College of Rhode Island next Saturday.

Worcester State takes the week off on a bye before heading up I-190 to Fitchburg State for a 1 o'clock matchup on October 12 while Mass Maritime entertains the Falcons at 1 PM next Saturday.
