Two Football Teammates Named to All-NEFC Team

Boston, MA --- Senior offensive lineman Sean Doolin (Reading, MA) and junior linebacker Tyler Russell (Princeton, MA) have recently been selected to the New England Football Conference (NEFC) All-Conference Football Team in a vote by the conferences football coaches. Both received the nod to the Second-Team of the Bogan Division.

Russell was a standout on defense for the Lancers this season as he led the conference with 122 tackles (71 solo) for an average of 12.20. As of November 15, the week before the NCAA Division III Playoffs started, Russell's total tackles were tied for fourth nationally, his solo stops were tied for sixth and his average was ninth best.

Russell also ended the year with 10 tackles for a loss with three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. His total was the second-most ever put up by a defensive player at Worcester State as it was just 10 away from Three-Time All-American Scott Holland who did it in 1995. Through his three-year career at WSC, Russell has collected 231 stops.

Doolin started in nine games this season at left tackle for the Lancers. Doolin helped the Lancers post modest offensive numbers in the NEFC as they were ranked 10th out of the 16 teams in the conference both in passing (148.2 yards per game) and rushing offense (151.1 YPG).

In his four years at Worcester State, Doolin appeared in 22 games while he started in 16 which included appearances on the depth chart in the last 14 contests.

The Lancers ended the season at 1-9 overall and 1-6 in the NEFC Bogan Division with their lone victory coming against Fitchburg State. WSC is coached by 27th year head coach Brien Cullen.
