Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Football team, led by first year Head Coach Lazaro Mitjans Jr., one of, if not the youngest head coaches in Division III, is pleased to announce the 2025 Football Schedule. The Lancers finished last season 3-7, 3-6 in the MASCAC, and look to grow those wins in the upcoming season. Led by returning starting quarterback Cam Ayotte (Millbury, MA), who appeared in nine games with 1689 yards and 11 touchdowns, and defensive lineman Aaron Becker (Natick, MA), who recorded 48 tackles in his 10 starts for the Blue and Gold.
"We are excited for the opportunities ahead of us this Season! I am excited to be back coaching in a competitive conference like the MASCAC" says Mitjans Jr, "and we know our players will work together to face the challenge of the 2025 season"
The Lancers will play a slightly reduced schedule this season due to a shift in their conference alignment which will bring in some new faces to their complete MASCAC regular season. Worcester will open their schedule on the road on September 13th when they journey north to Plymouth State for a midday meeting with the Panthers whom they defeated 27-21 in the conference opener last season. The 20th is the Blue and Gold's first home game of the season as they welcome the Falcons to Coughlin Field for a 12pm kickoff. The 27th will find Worcester heading west to Westfield before returning home on October 4th for the 2025 Homecoming Game. The 1:30pm kickoff will find the Lancers meeting with the Bridgewater Bears.
October 18th finds Worcester State traveling to UMass-Dartmouth for a 4pm battle before a double home stand with the newest MASCAC additions in Dean College on October 25th at noon and Anna Maria on November 1st with a 1:30pm start time. In a slight bit of déjà vu for Mitjans Jr., who was an assistant coach at Mass. Maritime for a stretch, the Lancers will journey to the cape on November 8th for a clash with the Buccaneers. Wrapping up their regular season schedule, in a game that will also be played in honor of their 2025 senior class, Worcester State will host Framingham State on November 15th. Senior Day festivities are expected to commence prior to the noon kickoff time.
