Field Hockey Drops 5-0 Decision To Plymouth State

Plymouth, NH --- Plymouth State freshman netminder Alivia Bates (Pennsauken, NJ) stopped all 11 shots she saw on net as the Panthers defeated Worcester State, 5-0, in Little East Conference field hockey action this afternoon.

PSU improved to 3-1 (1-0 LEC) with the win while the Lancers fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in league action.

Five different goal scorers registered tallies in the contest for Plymouth State as senior Kristen Morris (Stoughton, MA) and freshman Lily Davis (Boscawen, NH) potted first half markers midway through the frame to help the hosts lead 2-0 at the intermission.

The Blue and Gold back line helped preserve the lead for much of the second period and junior Megan Ripke (Agawam, MA) made a tremendous defensive save, but senior Nikki Garvey (Canaan, NH) caught the ricochet and put the home team up 3-0 with 58 minutes off the clock.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Wilder (Framingham, MA) and senior Sam Carberry (Shrewsbury, PA) both notched late second-half goals to help the Panthers secure their first conference victory of the campaign.

Freshman Kathryn Salemme (Boxboro, MA) turned aside 10 shots for the Lancers in the defeat as senior Jourdan Childs (Attleboro, MA) also notched a defensive stop in the losing effort.

Plymouth State outshot the visitors, 15-11 while Worcester State led in penalty corners, 6-5.

The Blue and Gold continue their non-conference circut with a Tuesday 4:30 meeting at WPI. The Panthers take a break until they head south to take on Western Connecticut on Saturday at 10 AM.
