Sam Dion Earns Third Straight MASCAC Rookie of the Week Award

WESTFIELD, Mass. - For the third time in as many weeks, Worcester State University men's basketball freshman Sam Dion (Barre, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.

Dion averaged 14.0 points per game in Worcester State's MASCAC Tournament run, which included a 24-point performance against MCLA in the MASCAC Semifinal. His four-point play in the final minute of the MASCAC Championship against Westfield State cut Worcester's deficit from five to one with 58 seconds to play, and despite the loss, was one of the most clutch shots in the history of the program.

Dion's Lancers finished the season with an overall record of 15-12, and earned its first share of the MASCAC Regular Season Championship since 2000. Worcester State reached the MASCAC Championship game for the ninth time in program history, and first since 2017.
