Men's Golf Finishes as Runner Up at MASCAC Championship

SOUTHWICK, Mass. - The Worcester State University men's golf team finished in second place on Wednesday at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship at The Ranch Golf Club.

Worcester State finished only behind Westfield State University, who claimed the MASCAC title with a team score of 309. The Lancers shot a score of 331, tied with defending champion Springfield College, but won the tiebreaker with the lower score in the five-position.

Junior Henry Bruckner (Frankllin, Mass.) shot the low round for Worcester State, carding a five-over 77 on the day. Bruckner shot the tournament's low front nine, carding a three-under 33. His score of 77 was good to land him a spot on the Second Team All-Conference. He was also named MASCAC Rookie of the Year for the performance.

Graduate student Connor Anderson (Raynham, Mass.) turned in a score of 80, followed closely by junior Jake Poitras (Harwich, Mass.), who carded an 83.

Worcester State's team scores were rounded out by senior Cam Neary (Mansfield, Mass.), who recorded a 91. In the five-position, a 95 from junior Will Sjogren (Auburn, Mass.) gave Worcester State the tiebreaker for second over Springfield.

The second place finish was Worcester State's highest finish since 2017, when the Lancers also came in second.
