Evans Named MASCAC Goalkeeper of the Week

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Senior Andrew Evans earned the Ice Hockey team's first weekly award as he was named MASCAC Ice Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week after he posted a 2.50 goals against average in a pair of wins for Worcester State.

Evans, a product of Cromwell, CT who played juniors for the MassConn Braves, posted a 2-0 record with a .932 save percentage as he tallied 36 saves in a 5-3 triumph over Framingham State before he notched 32 stops in a 3-2 third-period comeback victory over UMass Dartmouth.

Evans has played in 38 percent of the net this season has a 2-4 record (2-2 MASCAC) with a 4.58 GAA while he leads the team with 198 saves. Evans also has the fourth best save percentage in conference play (.906) and the ninth best GAA (3.79).

This past week Evans went over the 1,000 save mark as he now has 1063 stops in 34 career games.

Worcester State has a pair of tough games ahead when they take on Fitchburg State tomorrow at 5:30 before they entertain Westfield State at 7:30 on Saturday. Both squads are tied with Salem State for first-place in the MASCAC.
