D3hockey.com Release

WORCESTER, Mass. – In addition to being named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's ice hockey player of the week, Worcester State's senior forward Mike Moran (Milford, Mass.) has been named to the D3hockey.com men's ice hockey team of the week, as announced by the organization Wednesday (Oct. 8) morning.

In a 2-0 week for the Blue and Gold, Moran tallied four goals. He scored the game-tying goal in the 3-2 comeback win over Plymouth State on last Tuesday (Oct. 31) and then netted a hat-trick, scoring all three goals in the third period for the Lancers' second comeback win of the week as they defeated Franklin Pierce 4-3 this past Saturday (Nov. 4).

"I commend Mike for the hard work he put in this past summer," mentioned Worcester State head men's ice hockey coach, Shayne Toporowski.  "The time in the gym has Mike skating and playing bigger then he ever has. This has allowed the coaching staff to utilize Mike in key situations. Being able to trust a player because of their conditioning level is like an extra tool in your back pocket."

Moran currently leads the Lancers in goals this season with five.

"I am very excited to see Mike sustain this level of play or perhaps elevate it," said Toporowski.  "Congrats to Mike on a fast start and the weekly honors of player of the week from the MASCAC and D3hockey.com."

The men's ice hockey team is back in action this week as they host Framingham State in a Thursday (Nov. 9) night tilt, and then travel to Salem State on Saturday (Nov. 11).
