Two Lancers Receive MASCAC Weekly Awards

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Worcester State University men's ice hockey's Ryan Hoff (Brockton, Mass.) and Petr Staif (Zruc-Senec, Czech Republic) have received weekly awards from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Hoff was named the MASCAC Goalie of the Week after he picked up a pair of victories on the week as the Lancers stayed perfect in conference play. Hoff made 35 saves in a home-opening, come-from-behind win over UMass Dartmouth on Thursday, before making 30 saves in a shutout of Framingham State on Saturday. Hoff finished with a goals against average of 1.50 and save percentage of .956 on the week.

Staif had a breakout week for the Lancers on the blue line to earn MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors, recording a goal and three assists over two games. Staif opened the week with an assist against UMass Dartmouth before tallying a goal and two assists against Framingham State on Saturday.

Hoff and Staif both earn the awards for the first time this season. Teammates Kevin Drevitch (Oxford, N.J.) and Matthew Manning have also earned MASCAC weekly awards this season.

The Lancers will be back in action for a Thursday tilt against Plymouth State at 4:40 p.m. at the Worcester Ice Center.
