5 LANCERS SCORE IN TEAMS FIRST WIN

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers (0-2, 0-1 MASCAC) traveled west to face off against the Framingham State Rams (1-1, 1-0 MASCAC) in a conference match-up in hopes of the team achieving its first win of the season.

END FIRST PERIOD: LANCERS 2 | RAMS 0

 

The Lancers scored just 3:29 after puck drop as sophomore forward Shane Prifrel (Inner Grove Heights, MN) scored to put his team on top.

 

With roughly three minutes remaining in the first, Worcester's junior forward Martin Dlugolinsky (Stara Lubovna, Slovakia) found the back of the net to put the squad up 2-0. Graduate student and forward Brendan Ronan (Saugus, MA) along with Prifel were credited with the assist.

 

END SECOND PERIOD: LANCERS 4 | RAMS 1

 

Framingham cut the lead in half when Jeremy McDonald snuck one past the goalkeeper off the pass from Kaleb Kinskey.

 

10:52 into the second period, Lancers first-year forward Brady Carpenter (Peabody, MA) put his team back into control 3-1 with junior defender Cody Porcello (Melrose, MA) finding him with the assist.

 

Six minutes later, Lancers sophomore forward Anders Grongstad (Royal Oak, MI) became the fourth player to score on the night to elevate the lead to 4-1. Junior forward Brigham Neuhold (Edmond, OK) and junior defender Christian Phinney (Draper, UT) received assists on the score.

 

END THIRD PERIOD / FINAL: LANCERS 5 | RAMS 1

 

This period saw some chippiness between the two teams, but 10:23 into the third, Senior forward Brian Clougherty (Lynn, MA) scored his first goal of the season to give the Lancers a 5-1 command. Junior forward Matthew Kowal (Monson, MA) and first-year forward Matt Lombardi (Hudson, MA) were stated with assists.

The next game for the Lancers will be a home game at the Worcester Ice Center vs the Umass Dartmouth Buccaneers in another conference game for the blue and gold with a 5:50 p.m. puckdrop.
