Men's Soccer, Bridgewater State Draw To 0-0 Tie In Double Overtime

Bridgewater, MA --- Bridgewater State and Worcester State played to a 0-0 double overtime tie in a MASCAC men's soccer contest on Saturday night at Swenson Field.

The Bears are now 2-4-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in the MASCAC while Worcester State's record goes to 1-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.

BSU junior netminder Matt Bagley (Braintree, MA) turned aside seven shots and Worcester State freshman keeper Nick Zucco (Ludlow, MA) made five saves as they each recorded their second shutouts of the season.

Bagley made three great stops during the overtime periods.  In the first extra session he turned aside a point-blank shot and the ensuing rebound off the foot of Worcester State freshman Alex Goncalves (Ludlow, MA).

Bagley then made a diving stop of first-year Alfred Sogja's (Worcester, MA/Doherty) scoring bid that was labeled for the top right corner midway through the second overtime.

Bridgewater State held a 24-16 shot advantage for the game as well as an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.  In the two overtime periods however, the Lancers outshot the Bears, 6-1, and attempted all three corner kicks of the extra sessions.

In upcoming action, Bridgewater State hosts Gordon College on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 as the Lancers entertains Wheelock College on Tuesday night at 7.
