WORCESTER, Mass.—The Worcester State Lancers blanked the Gators of Pine Manor at John F. Coughlin Memorial Field on their way to a 4-0 win. Freshman forward Bryan Brasil (Williamsburg, Mass) led the charge with three goals. Jason Barrett (Spencer, Mass) and Tim Schmidt (Southwick, Mass) combined for the shutout as the Lancers improved to 5-8-1 on the season. The Gator's loss made them fall to 9-6-1 on the season.

The scoring came fairly quick for the Blue and Gold as they started the goal scoring nine minutes in. After a foul just outside the box, the Lancers were awarded a free kick. Brasil took advantage of his first opportunity as he whipped the free kick off the Gator's wall and the ball deflected into the top right corner, giving the Lancers the important 1-0 lead.

About five minutes later Brasil struck again. After a thru ball from Noah Phelps (Attleboro ,Mass), Brasil dribbled in between two defenders, then from what seemed to be an impossible angle, shot the ball over the goalie into the left side netting to extend the lead.

With about twelve minutes left on the clock, Brasil received a pass outside the 18 from Jesse Colman (Shrewsbury, Mass) and took the ball straight to goal. With the Pine Manor goal keeper, Oscar Estrada (North Port, Fla.), closing down the angle, Brasil chipped the ball into the right side of the goal to take the 3-0 advantage and claim the hat-trick.

The Lancers were not done at three goals. With about four minutes left Andre Ipojuca (Saugus, Mass) struck for his first of the game. After a free kick, the ball bounced in the box and could not be cleared by the Gators' back line. Ipojuca found the loose ball and put into the right side netting and finished off the visiting Gators' with the 4-0 victory.

Barrett had one save for the Lancers and took home his third win of the year. Schmidt had three saves in his relief. Estrada had five saves for Pine Manor and his record fell to 9-5-1 on the season.

The Lancers' next battle is on Saturday when they host Salem State for a 10am MASCAC matchup at John F. Coughlin Field.
