Worcester State: 1

UMass-Dartmouth: 2

How it Happened:

The first half of tonight's matchup featuring a back and forth battle between the Corsairs and the Lancers resulted in the Corsairs entering the half with a 2-1 lead. Worcester State got off to an early 1-0 lead on a goal by a junior Wilber Garcia (Bilboa, Spain) free kick that went sailing past Ethan Donahue of the Corsairs for an early 1-0 lead. The Corsairs answered right back just three minutes later off a free possession kick of their own that would see the ball bobbled between players before finding its way past first year PJ Schmidt (Westwood, NJ). Just over 10 minutes later the Corsiars would grab the second goal as they collected a rebound attempt and passed around the pressure to sneak it into the back of the net..

The second half of tonight's matchup saw aggressive defense from both sides as both goalies traded for some clutch saves at the net. The ball went back and forth throughout the 45 minutes with passion and determination ruling the day for both squads, but even more so from the Lancers as they looked for the equalizer. Worcester would get the ball into scoring position in the final 15 seconds, but the Corsairs' stellar defense prevailed to hold off the Lancers, 2-1 the final.

Schmidt and first year Sergio Torrado (Arroyomolinos, Spain) would combine six saves, three apiece, in the game as Garcia would leas the team with 3 shots for the Lancers.
