Stahelski Tabbed MASCAC Male Track Athlete of the Week

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Worcester State senior RJ Stahelski (S. Deerfield, MA) has been honored as this week's MASCAC Male Track Athlete of the Week for an outstanding sprinting performance this past weekend as the Lancers placed second as a team at the Worcester City Meet.

Stahelski blazed the track as he finished in first in the 400 meters (49.47) and second in the 200 meters (22.87) to qualify for the Division III New England Championships in both events. Stahelski's time in the 400 also qualified him for the Open-New England Championships as he was 0.57 seconds away from stamping his ticket for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.

Stahelski picks up where he left off from the indoor season when he anchored the 4x400 meter relay team's final leg – that included three freshmen – as the relay team broke the school record three times in four weeks. The squad also earned All-Division III New England honors with an eighth place finish in the event.

Worcester State will compete again at the Jim Sheehan Invitational this weekend at Fitchburg State.
